April Rebalancing Changes

April Rebalancing Changes

April 3.19 Balancing Update

The team was hard at work revising kits on dinosaurs to improve the meta and reduce the powercreep.

Updates

Centrolophus Lux – Apex

We kick off this list of dinosaur rebalances with a few changes on Centrolophus Lux. Since its release, it’s been clear that this dinosaur wasn’t as bright in battle as it could be. We’re starting by raising some of its resistances to Armor Reduction, Damage Reduction and Damage Over Time, to help it survive and bear through battle easier. Then, we’re extending the duration of the Daze effect of Protective Daze, as well as replacing Decelerating Counter by Darting Counter, to help it really take control of the battlefield and gain advantage over its opponent. Let there be light in the Arena!

Resistances

  • Reduced Armor: From 50% up to 100%
  • Reduced Damage: From 50% to 67%
  • Damage Over Time: From 50% to 75%

Ability Updates

  • Protective Daze modified.
  • Decelerating Counter becomes Darting Counter

Glyptosavis – Apex

Glyptosavis has been one of the least victorious dinosaurs in the upper end of the arena for quite some time now, and it felt like people who decided to pick this Apex were penalized, and felt like they wasted their time. The biggest way to describe our changes here is “More teeth” due to all the damage improvements made. We also added some survivability options being added to Alert Vestigial Devour Rampage to ensure it can stay alive long enough to apply said damage.

Stats

  • Critical Damage: from 140% to 150%

Ability Updates

  • Group Cunning Speed Up Strike becomes Group Determined Strike
  • Vengeful Ferocious Charge modified
  • Alert Vestigial Devour Rampage modified
  • Prestige 5 Reactive Passive modified

Proto LuxApex

  • Vulnerability: from 75% to 100%
  • Reduced Armor: from 0% to 50%

  • Sundering Distracting Impact becomes Alert Retaliatory Impact
  • Alert Counter Survival modified
  • Increased Blessing On Escape becomes Cheater’s Blessing On Escape
  • Prestige 5 Reactive Passive modified

Draco IntrepidusApex

Our intentions with this update to Draco Intrepidus is to reinforce its identity while also making it better. To that end, we turned its Swap Prevention resistance to an immunity, and made two changes: we removed its rend so it can leverage its relatively high attack on all its abilities, and both basic and prestige passive now have an attack multiplier for 1.25, giving it a higher damage on average.

Resistances

  • Swap Prevention: from 50% to 100%

Ability Updates

  • Minor Rending Lockdown becomes Dazing Lockdown Strike
  • Prestige 5 Reactive Passive modified

SpinotopsApex

In an effort to make the late game arenas more balanced, we’re also going to nerf some of the dinosaurs that have dominated the arenas in the past year. The first target being the tyrant Spinotops. To make it more vulnerable to some of the attacks of other dinosaurs, we’re reducing its Damage Over Time and Affliction resistances. Then, in an effort to make it easier to avoid the high amount of damage it can output, it will now inherit Minimal Empowering Counter from Angel, its hybrid ingredient. Its Protective Advance ability is also getting replaced by Instant Resilient Strike, and its Alert Nullify Resilient Rampage is getting a few changes. With these changes, Spinotops should be easier to kill without taking away from its raw damaging potential

Resistances

  • Damage Over Time: from 33% to 0%
  • Affliction: from 50% to 0%

Ability Updates

  • Protective Advance becomes Instant Resilient Strike
  • Alert nullify Resilient Rampage modified
  • Medium Resilient Counter-Attack becomes Minimal Empowering Counter

TitanotholusApex

On the topic of Tyrants getting balanced down, we have our next dinosaur getting updated, Titanotholus. One of its big strengths that made it so scary was the Swap In ability that allowed it to stun almost anyone on the field. So, we’re changing that ability to remove the stun and make it more of a setup move to work harmoniously with the rest of its abilities. Then, we’ve increased the cooldown on Protective Stomp. We’re also replacing its On Escape move by a new move, On Escape Healing Obstruction. Finally, we’re reducing its damage to 1500. All these changes should make it a much more manageable dinosaur to face, while also keeping it a very good asset to keep on your team.

Stats

  • Damage: from 1600 to 1500

Ability Updates

  • Protective Stomp modified
  • Stunning Whip becomes Afflicting Whip
  • On Escape Reversal becomes On Escape Healing Obstruction

FukuitopsApex

Fukuitops has been performing really well. Too well, in fact, so it is being adjusted downwards. It loses a bit of baseline survivability as the heal multiplier on Healing Formation is adjusted downwards and its maximum Health is reduced. Its resistances to Rend and Vulnerability are removed, allowing creatures that use these to fully damage Fukuitops if they can bypass its active defenses.

Stats

  • HP: from 4900 to 4800

Resistances

  • Rend: from 25% to 0%
  • Vulnerability: from 25% to 0%

Ability Updates

  • Healing Formation modified
  • Group Ripping Impact modified

  • Stunning Obstruction becomes Passing Slice

AquiraptorUnique

While the unique concept behind the Aquiraptor abilities in battle was interesting, it needed some polish and changes in order to work well. So, we’ve made some significant changes to both Alert Scatter and Alert All Out Resilient Impact. These changes range from adding Priority while the flock is below 33% health, adding some more defensive effects to the abilities, and overall, making the high risk move of sacrificing 2 creatures in your flock much more rewarding while also ensuring that making that choice will not result in certain death. All the changes to these abilities are detailed in the “Ability Updates” section of this blogpost. Absolutely flock-ifying!

Ability Updates

  • Alert Scatter modified
  • Alert All Out Resilient Impact modified

AquilosaurusUnique

While Aquilosaurus had plenty of opportunities to do a lot of damage to its opponent, it lacked the stats to match. It was also fairly easy for a good amount of Cunning creatures to avoid the high damage output, and with Aquilosaurus being partially resilient, made it lack-luster, to say the least. So, by making it fully immune to Damage Reduction, and by increasing its Damage, we think this might be the little push this tough bird needed to make it a great option for your team.

Stats

  • Damage: from 1600 to 1650

Resistances

  • Reduced Damage: from 50% to 100%

Paramoloch Legendary

Even though Paramoloch has gotten a few changes over the years, a lot of its abilities were far out of date and needed to be changed up to match the current standards better. So, we’ve made some changes to two of those abilities: Mend And Run & Group Instant Charge. The details of these changes are in the “Ability Updates” section, but to sum them up, both abilities are getting their cooldown reduced. Mend And Run will now heal more, and Group Instant Charge will now do more damage. Plus, we’ve paired these changes with a healthy HP bump to make Paramoloch a real tough cookie. Let’s get tankin’!

Stats

  • HP: from 4350 to 4600

Ability Updates

  • Mend and Run modified
  • Group Instant Charge modified

PyrosuchusLegendary

Pyrosuchus needed a refresh after analyzing its abilities and statline. We didn’t want to change what it does, but give it the tools to accomplish what it was originally designed to do, in addition to strengthening its survivability. The Pyrosuchus now has access to Cunning and Resilient variants of two of its abilities which should help it tremendously against Fierce and Cunning opponents.

A note on data collecting:

We’d like to take a moment and thank everyone who has been participating in our numerous surveys and providing us with constructive feedback on our forums and social channels. We believe in player feedback and although changes rarely occur immediately, the very tangible data we collect, especially from our surveys, help guide us on our roadmaps and future optimizations.
