The cat’s dino’s out of the bag!
With yesterday’s release of Update 3.15, players’ level cap increased, and some got an early peak at our next level increases – Creature Level and Arena Level.
Wait, don’t go!
We know this is a big change, so please read on for all the details.
Dinosaur Level Cap Increase
It’s official – coming Wednesday, September 3rd, all creatures will have their maximum level cap increased from 30 to 35, aligned with the September PvP Season. This will allow your most powerful dinosaurs to shine in real-time PvP battles, or allow you to keep investing in your favorite team at your own pace.
We know that with over 400 dinosaurs to invest in, many of you might be worried about the costs of 5 new levels. We can confirm that levels 31 and up do not follow the previous scaling for DNA and coin requirements.
For Common, Rare, Epic, Legendary, Unique and Apex rarities, the resource values needed to reach level 31 will remain the same until level 35. That’s right – there is no scaling of required DNA and coins. They will stay flat.
Omega Dinosaurs are a special case. We’ve increased the customization for each Omega, so the caps on all Skills are increased. Levels continue to give you training points to put into the dinosaurs’ stats. For this reason, Omega rarity dinosaurs’ DNA costs continue to scale beyond 30, but the amount of coins needed will not scale.
With a new max Level, this also gives players the opportunity to try out these powered up dinosaurs in classic JWA modes.
As of September 3rd, all Skill Tournaments will feature the new max level of 35. Ditto in Friendly Battles. Use these modes to try out new team combinations before investing in your own collection and better focus your investment!
You may also encounter Level 35 opponents in upcoming Spotlight Events and Isla Events.
We know that fair and balanced matchmaking is important to create an enjoyable experience, so we’ve made sure to introduce some new changes to keep a level playing field.
On September 3rd, battle arenas will have new conditions. From Arenas 1 to 10 (Aviary), all dinosaurs in matches will be capped to level 30, and matchmaking will not allow players in arenas with differing creature level caps to be paired up. Moving forward, any arena that accepts creatures level 31 and up will only be able to matchmake with others in arenas accepting the same cap. This is done in order to prevent any unexpected shifts in the PvP experience, both in the player’s experience and the metagame in general.
Arena 11 match ups will be capped at teams set to level 31; Arena 12 will be capped at level 33. Players in Arena 13 and up will be able to play with teams of up to level 35. If your creature is above the level cap, it can still be played with, but won’t be at full power.
ARENA 13 AND UP?!
Introducing Arena 14
We thought it was high time for a new arena, and newly-leveled dinos will shine in the Valley of Titans – a high-stakes, high-reward PvP battleground where elite battlers will be able to compete against other top-tier players! The Valley of Titans arena will also debut with the September PvP Season on September 3rd.
When two Valley of Titans players face each other, they’ll know with a special face-off screen highlighting the epic battle about to begin.
With a more detailed leaderboard featuring additional stats on your competition, players in this Arena will unlock faster-opening incubators and exclusive badges as rewards – for those who finish the season in the Top 100.
Make it in the Top 3 of this Leadboard to get exclusive Valley of Titans Seasonal badges. Show off your dominance in battle and let your competitors know the challenge they will face taking you on! Every new season will net the Top 100 a new badge – Gold, Silver and Bronze for the Top 3, and Purple for the remaining 97.
This new space ensures regular PvP remains balanced while giving maxed-out players a thrilling new challenge. But watch out! Fall out of the top 100 and you’re out. Checkpoints will not be in place for Valley of Titans.
Introducing Checkpoints
With Update 3.15, a new info button has appeared in the Arena.
We know arena-dropping has been a long-time complaint in the community, and in the past it has been tricky to resolve. No one likes unfair match ups, and Checkpoint is a new tool in our arsenal.
Starting with the August PvP Seasonal, Checkpoints will be Arena-specific floors, that once you complete the stated amount of matches, you will not be able to drop out of that arena, even if your trophy count decreases throughout the Seasonal.
Checkpoints will be enabled on Arenas 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, and 12, with a number of matches between seasons allowing you to fall below a floor if you’re unable to keep up with the meta.
Not only will this be beneficial to players in early arenas from facing off against unbalanced matches, this will also allow the most competitive of players to match with worthy opponents in arenas 13 and 14.
While this may not resolve every instance of unfair match ups because of arena droppers, we do believe this will help make the PvP experience more balanced and enjoyable!
Ahead of all these changes going live, make sure to come back starting August 27th for a special Gold Rush event. All week long, players will be able to collect coins through a Daily Calendar, a weekend Coin Tournament, a coin-heavy Isla Event, and more!
COMING SOON – Isle of Trials Season 2
While not yet available, the team is hard at work on a second season of Isle of Trials, featuring a new storyline, new gameplay nodes, improved UI and a brand new boss to face off against! And most importantly – Hard Mode.
Hard Mode will be specifically designed for players with dino collections level 30 and up. Players will be able to move along in both track modes simultaneously, with different sets of daily entry tickets for either mode. Get ready for double glory if you’re up to the challenge!
Stay tuned for more updates on season 2 – you’ll never know what might take flight! Until then, don’t miss out on the D.Rex, exclusive to Season 1. The D.Rex season will repeat one more time after the current one ends on September 3rd.
We understand and respect the investment that these changes will require for our players and it is the reason we are rolling these out in stages, first with the player level, followed by creature level and supporting features. Our mission is to continue to provide players with fun and exciting gameplay, while allowing them to continue to invest in their collections without always worrying first about the meta. We will be listening and reading feedback, so do continue to leave us feedback.
